BASKETS FOR RAFFLES AT THE UPCOMING B/C CHAMPIONSHIPS MEET, JANUARY 27-29, 2012
Hello SCAT Families,
Our Senior Swimmers will be raffling "theme" baskets at the upcoming B/C meet and need your help. The SCAT Scholarship Program was created in 2011 to assist familes who have economic challenges with expenses related to participating on the team. Initially, cash donations were solicited from two donors to start the fund and ongoing fundraising efforts will be coordinated by SCAT's senior swimmers.
To date, SCAT Seniors have raised over $400.00 from the car wash and $1,000.00 was donated to start the fund.
You may already have some things around your house that could be used. Here are the basket themes and some ideas about the iteams we need:
1. Beaver Basket: t-shirt, sweatshirt, hat, visor, scarf, pom-poms or car flags, window decals, basketball tickets (Stuntzners are working on getting these) etc.
2. Duck Basket: Same as above
3. Art Basket: You may have some unused supplies sitting around your house!Construction or watercolor paper, paper, color pencils, paints, etc.
4. Swim: Towel, flip flops, googles, Power Bars & Gatorade, heathly snacks, water bottle, JD Pence gift certificate (maybe several familes could go in together on a large one-that could generate some interest as the meet!).
5. Movie/Game Night: Popcorn, snacks, DVD's or coupons to stores like video and more, board games, deck of cards, movie money, etc.
Deadline: January 16 Not much time!!

KARL STUNTZNER-GIBSON SELECTED FOR ALL STAR TEAM
As part of a 32 member team, Karl, 14, was selected for the Oregon Swimming winter All Star team that will travel to Vancover, B.C., Canada, on the weekend of January 6-8. There were eight 13-14 boys selected from Oregon on the basis of 14 year old boys Sectional Qualifying Times.
The OSI team will be competing against all star teams from Southern Cal, Pacific Swimming, CA., Washington, and Canada.
This is the first time Karl has been selected for this honor and we all wish him the best of luck! Keep swimming fast!
RACHEL HEANEY WINS THE COLLEGIATE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARD
Rachel was given this award at the Top 5 Awards Ceremony by the Oregon Swimming Coaches Association. Also recognized for top 5 times over the past year were - Kevin Waller, Karl Stuntzner-Gibson, Cassie Dallas, Shayonna Tripp, Grace Knutsen, and Jerrad Perez. CONGRATULATIONS
