RECOVERY NUTRITION:

By Lisa Dorfman, MS, RD, CSSD, LMHC
Refueling after training is like putting money in the bank—it's the body's safe deposit box for muscle sugars called glycogen. This investment for muscles ensures adequate energy for daily training and overall health. Without food or fluid after exercise, the body is unable to completely recover from workouts and improve performance.  Please read the full article:

Dear South Coast Aquatic Team Members and Families,

The basic guide for our team can be found in the SCAT Code of Conduct, By-Laws , and Handbook.   The South Coast Aquatic Team was established to promote the sport of swimming and in the process help to develop the abilities and character of the individual swimmers. Therefore, in their interactions with teammates, other teams and coaches, and the general public, SCAT team members are expected to show respect for others and promote good sportsmanship.

Our Code of Conduct also states

“A climate of respect is the foundation of our team. Therefore, team members will show respect for one another by refraining from insults, discrimination, intimidation, or harassment, including name-calling, hitting, or inappropriate touching.”

Our coaching staff’s responsibilities are to supervise the entire competitive program. The SCAT coaching staff is dedicated to providing a program for youngsters that will enable them to learn the value of striving to improve oneself. Therefore, the coaches must be in total control in matters affecting training and competition.” While in the pool enclosure, the swimmers are the responsibility of the coaching staff. During practice sessions, swimmers are never to leave the pool area without coach’s permission.”

This information is intended to educate members about SCAT policies and procedures and to ensure respect of teammates and the coaching staff.

Respectfully yours,

South Coast Aquatic Team Board of Directors
